Pearson VUE partner with IDEMIA for CBT verification solutions

Computer based testing (CBT) company Pearson VUE has announced a partnership with IDEMIA for ID verification in an effort to develop and deploy identity verification solutions across Pearson VUE’s range of secure global test delivery options.

Pearson VUE has been offering computer-based testing services since 1994, and it delivers 15 million certification and licensing exams per year. It has a network of near 20,000 secure test centres and performs online testing services in over 180 countries.

Through the partnership, the Minneapolis based firm aims to leverage IDEMIA’s identity verification technology in both its remote testing services and its professional centres to “protect the integrity and value of high-stakes exams.”

Peter Pascale, global vice president of product at Pearson VUE, explained: “The power of working with IDEMIA is that they help us expand how we validate candidates’ identities.

“The ability to quickly evaluate the validity of global government-issued identification documents brings additional security and authorization levels to prevent fraud in high-stakes exams.”

IDEMIA’s technology will enable test takers to scan their driver’s licenses or other forms of government ID in order to confirm their identities; the credentials will be immediately compared against IDEMIA’s library of official identity documents.

“As the global leader in identity security, IDEMIA is pleased to provide the highest level of identity verification for Pearson VUE’s testing solutions,” said Matt Thompson, Senior Vice President, Civil Identity, IDEMIA Identity & Security N.A.

“IDEMIA’s proven physical and digital identity solutions bring a new level of security to computer-based testing. By partnering with a known leader like Pearson VUE, IDEMIA further increases its leadership in identity proofing and authentication.”
