Fintech firm Cardless has announced a new partnership with American Express, which enables digital-first cards to be accessed via its network.

The partnership looks to empower travel providers and retailers, backing them with benefits, offers, and security measures. Cardless also received a ‘significant investment’ from Amex Ventures, American Express’ strategic investment group.

Customers will be enabled to take advantage of unique reward offerings from brands within the shopping, travel, dining, and entertainment industries through Cardless’ array of digital cards on the American Express network.

“American Express is recognised for having one of the largest and most active credit card networks in the world, with the most loyal cardholders,” stated Michael Spelfogel, President and Co-Founder of Cardless.

“We couldn’t be more excited to combine Cardless’ ability to launch cards seamlessly with the valuable benefits that consumers expect from the American Express network.”

In addition to its new partnership, Cardless has completed a series of venture capital funding rounds from firms such as Amex Ventures and other Venture Capitalists to enhance its growth and product offerings.

Cardless cards provide features designed for digital-native consumers for added security and easy use. New users will have access to the card offerings, digital via their mobile wallet, and physical cards can be delivered in days.

“Cardless’ digital-first mission and customer-first mindset make our brands a strong match,” added William Stredwick, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Global Network Services North America at American Express.

“Leading brands want to give their customers a more personalised experience and engage with them more deeply, and our relationship with Cardless makes that possible by offering their customers access to benefits and protections from American Express.”
