International transfer service Wise is “doubling-down” on its focus on the Indian market by announcing a new stack hub in Hyderabad to expand its services.
The company confirmed it will look to hire hundreds of roles over the next few years to roll out its international accounts to customers in India, enabling them to get paid overseas in eight different currencies; USD, GBP, EUR, AUD, SGD, CAD and HUF.
Wise credits its pre-existing work in the country for the new stack hub, revealing that 10% of all money sent from abroad to India is powered by its services. In 2021, Wise launched the lightning fast transfers services to boost bank transfers of up to $250,000 at mid-market rates.
Wise APC Head of Engineering, Smrithi Ravi, will lead the new hub in Hyderabad which is set to open in the second half of 2025.
She has spent more than six years with Wise at the company’s Singapore regional hub, leading a team to drive the expansion of Wise products and helping to develop underlying technology infrastructure to connect local payment schemes in Singapore.
Central to the hub’s core focus will be to develop product, engineering, servicing and operations teams to expand its global product development and operations as hiring within the financial Indian landscape has become more competitive.
Ravi commented: “India’s tech talent ecosystem is world-class, and I’m excited to return home to lead Wise’s newest full stack hub in Hyderabad.
“The teams in Hyderabad will play a crucial role in Wise’s global infrastructure and product development. I’ll be looking for people who are passionate about building products that have a real impact on customers and who are self-starters looking to solve some of the most complex problems in the international money movement.
“Our new international account details feature is the perfect example of how we build products from a deep understanding of the local customer experience.”
