Fintech issuer processor Enfuce is looking to inspire its staff base and the wider fintech sector with the appointment of Norwegian Paralympic gold medalist Birgit Skarstein

Becoming the new Chief Inspiration Officer at Enfuce, Skarstein will leverage her extensive background of excelling in Paralympic competition to inspire, challenge and motivate Enfuce to innovate within the fintech sector.

Focusing on building upon its mission to go ‘beyond expectation’, Enfuce created the new position for Skarstein and is believed to be the first role of its kind within the fintech sector.

Monika Liikamaa, Co-CEO and Co-Founder at Enfuce, stated: “Peak performance is peak performance – whether it’s in business or in sport.

“I’ve often said that as a CEO, I feel like an athlete and, meeting Birgit, she understood this right away. Every day brings a new goal to achieve, a new challenge to overcome. But what really excites me is the broader impact we can have together.

“Birgit’s story shows young people everywhere that barriers are meant to be broken, and that mindset is exactly what society needs right now.”

Within her new role, Skarstein will share stories of inspiration and motivation across Enfuce-created webinars and speaker series to challenge Enfuce’s staff and the wider fintech sector.

Both a para rower and para cross-country skier, Skarstein won Paralympic gold at the 2020 Tokyo Games in the PR1 single sculls. She followed this with a silver medal last summer at the 2024 Paris Games and has won six gold medals at the World Championships

During her time as a para-athlete, Skarstein has also taken part as a public speaker at TED Talks and the World Economic Forum, leveraging her business and academic experience.

The Norwegian has a degree in political sciences from the University of Oslo and has been involved in Norwegian politics for several years, having served on the City Council of Oslo.

“It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with Enfuce,” said Skarstein.

“There’s something special about the people, the culture, the energy – it’s this amazing combination of staying humble while dreaming big.

“When I met Enfuce’s Co-Founders, Denise and Monika, I just knew this was meant to be. I can’t wait to work with all their incredible teams to share what I’ve learned about owning your success and what it takes to win big, while working to inspire broader change across the fintech industry.”
