Enfuce has expanded its E2 card, featuring both debit and credit PANs to the UK, France and Germany in collaboration with Mastercard.

The E2 card, designed to offer double the payment options of a traditional card, combines both credit and debit PANs, requiring only one PIN. This expansion aims to introduce the ‘combination card’ concept, common in the Nordics, to a broader European market where it is less widespread.

It works by allowing cardholders to set their default payment type – credit or debit – and switch instantly at the point of sale, offering an alternative to moving money between accounts. This idea looks to give cardholders more control over spending and helps avoid overdraft fees.

Furthermore, each payment option is linked to its own account, ensuring funds are always drawn from the correct source. Additionally, for digital wallets, cardholders can customise card designs to prevent confusion.

Denise Johansson, Co-founder and Co-CEO of Enfuce says: “We believe that our 2-in-1 card could soon become an industry norm, as it has done in the Nordics. We’re proud to be able to answer a clear gap in the market for both banks and consumers, giving an added boost to the rich fintech ecosystem in the UK, France and Germany.”

Enfuce highlights that, beyond offering flexibility to customers, its solution helps banks and innovators reduce plastic use by cutting down on the number of cards they produce, which benefits both users and the environment.

Andreas Spengel, Senior Vice President Market Development, Mastercard says; “Partnership is part of our DNA, and we are dedicated to collaborating with partners who share our vision of offering innovative payment solutions. Together with Enfuce, we are excited to provide cardholders across Europe and the UK with a seamless and convenient choice that combines the best of both debit and credit.”

This announcement comes after Enfuce obtained an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) licence from the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in February, enabling the company to issue cards directly to UK customers.
