RuPay, a product of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), has become the official partner of the cricket Indian Premier League (IPL). 

The multi-year collaboration aims to encourage digital payments adoption in a ‘faster and seamless’ way and whilst the firm looks to gain a brand presence in cricket.

“We are pleased to have RuPay on board as an official partner of the Indian Premier League 2022,” stated Brijesh Patel, chairman of the IPL.

“This association of IPL and RuPay, the flagship product of NPCI, brings together two of India’s best homegrown brands and is set to create a huge impact on millions of Indians across the globe.”

Additionally, the partners have stated that both brands move to ‘bring India together’, and Praveena Rai, Chief Operating Officer, NPCI, added: “We are delighted to partner with the BCCI for one of the most celebrated sports leagues – Indian Premier League. We believe RuPay resonates well with IPL.

“Just like IPL provides high voltage entertainment to all Indian cricket lovers, RuPay offers tech-led, innovative, and customised offerings to people across the country, being accepted in India and internationally.

The organisation has stated that the 15th edition of the IPL will be played in a ‘bio-secure environment’ to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection. The final will be played on 29 May, 2022 with 70 league matches played across four international standard venues in Mumbai and Pune.
