Payment solution provider Ingenico Group has announced a new agreement with Belgian e-pharmacy business Newpharma to provide “a payment experience that meets the security needs of online pharmaceutical buyers.”
Expected to support its growth strategy, Newpharma was established in 2008 to modernise and digitise the pharmacy industry.
With demands from beyond its domestic market growing, in particular for non-prescription medication accounts, Newpharma required a payments provider that could certify the processing of international sales and the protection of personal information.
Commenting on the partnership, Jérôme Gobbesso, CEO of Newpharma, said: “Because the pharmacy sector is the most demanding in terms of customer requirements, it is essential for us to have a stable and secure platform. And that is what we have managed to put in place thanks to Ingenico ePayments.
“We are very happy with our payment partner, although most of the time we don’t need to think about it since everything works as it should, without a glitch.”
Ingenico ePayments’ platform enables the firm to tailor its payment experience to the requirements of alternative international markets.
This includes language, currency and preferred payment methods in the region. Providing a customer-centric experience is expected to reduce basket abandonment rates whilst still protect consumer data.
Benoit Boudier, Managing Director, SMB Online Europe at Ingenico ePayments, added: “We are thrilled to support Newpharma’s rapid development.
“Data security is particularly important to Newpharma customers, so we’re pleased to give them peace of mind when shopping online by providing a secure, PSD2-compliant payment environment powered by the trusted Ingenico brand.”
We previously spoke to Sangeetha Narasimhan (Marketing Director, SMB Online, Europe, Ingenico ePayments) about the opportunities for smaller merchants to develop a strong cross-border strategy and grow their businesses.
