Westpac has announced to customers that they can now make contactless payments through the integration of Apple’s Tap to Pay.
The “new, easy and secure payment option” will enable business customers to accept all forms of in-person contactless payments with their iPhone, bolstered by Westpac’s EFTPOS Air iOS app, removing the need for additional hardware or payment terminals.
Via the supported Westpac app and tapping into NFC technology, checkout merchants will be able to prompt the customer to hold their contactless payment near the merchant’s iPhone for the payment to be securely processed.
Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, which includes accessibility options, using built-in features of iPhone to keep the businesses’ and customers’ data private and secure.
