Direct integration with superapp brings both Yape One Shot and Yape On File to merchants, cutting checkout friction, lifting approval rates, and turning one-time payers into returning customers, as Peru’s digital transactions surge.

OKTO PAYMENTS, the global payment service provider (PSP) specializing in high-growth and regulated industries, today announced a direct integration with Yape, Peru’s leading digital wallet. This expanded capability moves OKTO PAYMENTS from offering Yape as one of many methods to operating a direct connection to the rail, giving merchants better economics, more control, and a fast, reliable payment experience for their customers.

For digital businesses in iGaming, e-commerce, digital content and creator economy, the difference is commercial, not just technical. A direct rail means fewer intermediaries, stronger approval performance, tighter reconciliation, and lower cost to serve.

Through the direct integration, OKTO PAYMENTS gives merchants both Yape payment experiences from a single API connection. Yape One Shot is a payment solution that enables users to authorize one-time purchases on e-commerce platforms, payment gateways, and other digital merchants without entering additional codes or registering bank account details. When customers select Yape as their payment method on a merchant’s website or app, the Yape application automatically opens on their mobile device, allowing them to approve the transaction with a single tap. This streamlined experience makes online payments faster, more convenient, and secure. In addition, Yape On File serves returning customers. Yape wallet is securely linked once, then every future payment completes in a single click. This is where conversion compounds: repeat deposits and purchases happen in seconds.

Together, the two cover the full customer lifecycle, acquiring new payers with the lowest-friction entry point, then retaining and monetising them with one-click payments. For high-volume merchants, that’s the difference between a one-off transaction and a returning, higher-value customer.

Yape has become one of the most relevant tools for financial inclusion in Peru. With 16 million active users and counting — 7 million of whom were previously unbanked — it has evolved from a P2P app into the preferred payment method for more than 5 million local businesses.

OKTO PAYMENTS treats payments as performance infrastructure, not a utility. Beyond Yape, the platform lets merchants in Peru orchestrate local pay-ins and payouts through a single integration, settle and manage treasury and liquidity in one place, navigate a complex and fast-changing regulatory environment with compliance built into the architecture, and automate reconciliation, transaction monitoring, and risk management.

“This is about helping merchants play differently — to deepen customer relationships, deliver more personalised experiences, and remove the barriers that quietly kill payment conversion,” said César Rodríguez Otaola, General Manager, North Latin America, at OKTO PAYMENTS. “A direct partnership with Yape means we’re closer to the source of money, which translates into better performance and better economics for the businesses that run on us.”

Claudia Silva, Head of Payments at Yape, added: “Yape is the payment method that millions of Peruvians choose every day, and through our Yape On File and Yape One Shot solutions, we seek to simplify the purchasing experience for both merchants and consumers. This integration brings that simplicity directly to digital businesses, providing companies with a fast and reliable way to accept Yape, whether it is a customer’s first purchase or a returning user paying with a single click. The result is fewer barriers at checkout and a payment experience built around a platform that people already know and trust. This is an important step toward a more connected and inclusive digital economy in Peru.”

With an annual run rate of €17+ billion in processed volume, OKTO PAYMENTS is the payments infrastructure behind 40+ international and local merchants in the world’s most demanding regulated markets. Its focus is simple: help merchants convert more, move capital faster, and operate with confidence in the most demanding payment environments — across Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Colombia and Peru. Merchants ready to offer Yape One Shot and On File through a single integration can talk to the OKTO PAYMENTS team.

Built for a market moving this fast

The timing matters. Digital transactions in Peru grew 61.8% in the first half of 2025 versus the same period a year earlier, according to BCRP data compiled by CAPECE. E-commerce now accounts for roughly 65% of all card spending in the country, and wallet transactions have grown more than 500% since 2019, the fastest-growing payment method in the market. Consumers increasingly expect mobile-first, frictionless checkout, and merchants that can’t meet that expectation lose them at the last step.

OKTO PAYMENTS’ performance data further shows that transactions completed through trusted digital wallets such as Yape, convert meaningfully better and achieve approval rates between 8% and 10% higher than traditional payment methods like bank transfers.. When a customer pays with a method they already know and trust, abandonment falls and conversion rises.
