Fiserv has continued its global expansion path by launching its Clover platform in Australia.

Clover, the company’s point-of-sale (POS) system, is now available for Australian merchants. Fiserv has identified Australia as a key market, especially since 98% of businesses in the country are classified as small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs).

Gavin Jones, Country Manager of Fiserv Australia, said: “Australia’s small businesses, particularly those in the retail and hospitality sectors, are vital to the economy. 98% of Aussie businesses identify as small-to-medium businesses but many rely on a complex array of solutions that don’t integrate with each other and are supported in a fragmented way.

“Small businesses work incredibly hard to get ahead in the market and Clover provides advanced technology backed by support teams that are dedicated to helping businesses grow.”

Fiserv stated that the cloud-based system is designed to help businesses manage payments, inventory, customer interactions and other operations by offering software and hardware solutions.

With its main target clients being SMEs, the firm has placed a great emphasis on Clover helping these merchants to scale through an accelerated customer checkout.

Jones added: “With two-thirds of small Australian businesses aiming to scale, there’s a clear opportunity for Clover to support them in adopting technology that enables growth and keeps them competitive in a rapidly evolving market.”

To emphasise the power of Clover, Fiserv has pointed to remarks from one of its pilot merchants. Shane Jaque, Owner of multiple hospitality venues including Sneaky Burger, said that the Clover Mini and Station Duo have “transformed how we run our business”.

Global expansion

Following this Australian launch, the platform is now available in 11 countries and powers over 3.5 million POS devices globally.

Clover is predominantly used in North America, though this recent activity highlights the company’s growth plans.

Fiserv has expanded its services recently, with the firm targeting Europe earlier this month. Fiserv acquired CCV, a payment solutions provider, to fast-track the deployment of its Clover platform in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.

At the time, Katia Karpova, EVP and Head of EMEA at Fiserv, remarked: “The addition of CCV will enable Fiserv to accelerate the deployment of our Clover platform and operating system, providing enhanced capabilities and innovation to our clients across Europe.”
