Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) payment service Affirm has integrated its method to Apple Pay for US customers as part of the recent launch of iOS 18.
Apple Pay users will be able to request over a time period by splitting payments up to four different monthly segments. These payment methods can also be split biweekly with 0% APR for added flexibility.
Vishal Kapoor, SVP of Product at Affirm, said: “We are thrilled to bring the power of Affirm to Apple Pay users in the U.S. and the retailers where they shop.
“This integration combines the ease, convenience and security of Apple Pay alongside the features users love in Affirm – flexibility, transparency and no late or hidden fees.”
The customised payment plans are personalised for Apple Pay users for them to choose one that is tailored to their needs. Users can double-click the iPhone side button to connect to Apple Pay and confirm purchases.
To begin using Affirm on Apple Pay, users with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 or later can select ‘Other Cards & Pay Later Options’ when checking out with their iPhone or iPad. After choosing Affirm, they will go through an eligibility check that does not impact their credit score.
With Affirm, users already with an account with the BNPL firm can select Affirm at the checkout with Apple Pay, stored as a digital wallet after being compatible with Apple’s iOS 18 update.
Affirm has also stated that its commitment to responsible lending means that every transaction will be individually underwritten with no attached lates or surprise fees.
In addition to the flexibility and transparency of Affirm, users are also protected with privacy and security features of Apple Pay. As with all Apple Pay purchases, when a user pays with Affirm, Apple does not retain any transaction information linked to the user.
Jennifer Bailey, Apple’s VP of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet, added: “We are excited to provide users with even more flexibility and choice when making a purchase using Apple Pay with the introduction of Affirm loans at checkout with Apple Pay.
“This gives users access to Affirm’s pay over time options right at the point of purchase, and leverages the easy, secure and private experience that our users already enjoy with Apple Pay.”
