In less than four days, the 2025 Payment Expert Summit will bring together payment professionals from around the globe to discuss some of the most pressing industry questions plaguing the world of payments.
With the payments landscape in a state of rapid transformation, the forthcoming Payment Expert Summit (September 16) will bring together over 30,000 delegates to address the most pressing challenges and opportunities facing the sector.
The summit, part of the larger SBC Summit, is set to be a crucial gathering point for 8,000 operators, 2,500 affiliates, and a host of fintech pioneers, all looking to navigate an ecosystem increasingly defined by technological disruption and regulatory pressure.
The event’s agenda reveals a focus on four key themes: the rise of disruptive technology, the evolving role of crypto, the complexities of compliance, and the future of payments in emerging markets. Panel discussions and workshops will dive into the core issues that keep industry leaders awake at night, moving beyond simple product showcases to strategic problem-solving.
The Payments of Tomorrow
The conference will lead with a central question: where will new technology take the payments industry in the next five years?
A panel titled “Payments 2030” will feature experts from LeoVegas, Blaze, and Trustly, who will explore how innovations like AI, biometric authentication, and instant payments are reshaping transactions. The discussion will highlight the benefits of enhanced speed and accessibility and also tackle the significant challenges of security and regulation that accompany these advancements.
Another session, “Open Banking and Decentralization: where’s it going and are we truly ready?”, will directly confront the industry’s preparedness for a more open and decentralised financial ecosystem. Speakers from Flutter International and Portugal Fintech will dissect the real-world impact of these shifts, from seamless payments to enhanced financial control for consumers.

Crypto’s Crossroads
As the financial world grapples with the mainstreaming of digital assets, the summit will dedicate significant time to the future of cryptocurrency. The session “Crypto Capitals: a watershed year for alternative currencies” will consider the pivotal events of the past year – including regulatory crackdowns and unexpected political endorsements – and their implications for adoption and regulation in 2025 and beyond.

The debate over crypto’s long-term viability is a central theme, and it will be further explored in the dedicated Web 3.0 & Blockchain Academy, new to this years conference.
This academy will offer practical workshops on everything from building crypto iGaming brands to using blockchain for enhanced security and identity control. A highlight is expected to be a Q&A session with marketing visionary Gary Vaynerchuk, who will separate the “buzzwords” from what “actually matters” in the world of NFTs and blockchain.
Navigating the Regulatory Minefield
The summit’s agenda makes it clear that technology can’t be discussed in a vacuum. Core areas like KYC (Know Your Customer), fraud, AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and compliance are woven throughout the conference.

A panel on “Omnichannel payments” will examine how businesses can build the right infrastructure while navigating compliance challenges, while a session on emerging markets will specifically address region-specific compliance and cultural expectations.
With 500 speakers and 700 exhibitors, the summit is poised to facilitate a candid dialogue about the industry’s future. It aims to provide not just a look at new products, but a strategic roadmap for a payments world that is faster, more complex, and under more scrutiny than ever before.
