IDEX Biometrics has named Catharina Eklof as its new CEO, as the company aims to expand its focus on the rapidly growing markets in Asia and EMEA.
As the new CEO, Eklof, who has been IDEX Biometrics’ Chief Commercial Officer for the past three years, will lead the company’s continued shift from a component supplier to a comprehensive biometric solutions provider.
Catharina’s extensive global experience includes driving business transformation and profitable growth at major companies like Mastercard and Securitas, where she played a key role in commercialising new technology solutions.
Morten Opstad, Chairman of the Board of IDEX Biometrics, stated: “I’m delighted to announce Catharina as the new CEO for IDEX Biometrics. With her leadership, and industry experience within payments and cybersecurity, Catharina is the ideal person to lead IDEX into the future.

Founded in 1996, IDEX Biometrics is a company in the field of biometric identification and fingerprint sensor technology, specialising in developing advanced fingerprint sensors used in payment cards, digital wallets and cyber authentication systems.
Recently, the company has looked to expand into the Asian and EMEA markets. Last year, IDEX Biometrics partnered with MCS Microsystems for the provision of smart biometric cards.
