Meme coin APU Apustaja soars post-football partnership

Crypto meme coin APU Apustaja has announced a partnership with Italian football club Udinese Calcio ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Under the agreement, APU’s logo will be displayed on the kit’s sleeve, featured on LED panels at home matches, and utilised in various marketing assets such as social media, interview backdrops and match tickets for promotional activities.

A spokesperson for APU said: “This is a proud day for the APU community. We are thrilled with the partnership with Udinese Calcio. This partnership further enhances our vision to integrate the meme coin culture into mainstream sports and reach a global audience.

“Serie A football is one of the top leagues in the world and provides a huge platform to showcase the potential and fun of APU Apustaja to millions of football fans worldwide.”

After the deal, Apu Apustaja experienced a significant price surge within 24 hours, climbing from $0.000633 to a resistance level of $0.00080. Although the project reached a barrier that has currently halted further upward movement, the community believes the partnership indicates that the coin is “not going anywhere, anytime soon.”

Commenting on the deal, Udinese Calcio said: “We are proud to partner with APU, one of the most innovative and engaging companies within the crypto sector. Like APU, we are innovators, and we believe there can be a lot of overlap between our companies when it comes to principles and best practices, something we are very keen to explore.

In recent years, football and crypto have become increasingly intertwined with several clubs even announcing crypto partnerships, such as Tottenham Hotspur naming crypto platform Kraken as the club’s first-ever official crypto and Web3 partner earlier this month. 

Although the meme coin sector isn’t a sector that is well-known in the world of football, this partnership isn’t the first. Lionel Messi promoted a meme coin named WaterCoin, which saw the Solana-backed token surge in price. 

Many meme coins are used to support various causes. For instance, WaterCoin focuses on raising awareness about water-related issues. Similarly, APU Apustaja is partnering with Udinese Calcio to promote and advance sustainability efforts.
