Stripe enables consumers to pay directly in Airbnb deal

Financial platform Stripe is working alongside accommodation providers Airbnb to enable consumers to perform a more efficient checkout process.

Airbnb guests can use Stripe Financial Connections to securely and instantly add their bank account as a payment method. Once those details are saved, guests can use Link, Stripe’s native one-click checkout, to make quick bank payments for future bookings.

“We are excited to partner with Stripe to provide our guests with more options to pay for their travel, including paying by bank with Link,” said Dave Stephenson, Chief Financial Officer at Airbnb.

The deal comes as paying by bank is growing in popularity, with nearly two-thirds of businesses reporting that they are pursuing bank debits to provide customers with more flexible ways to pay and grow sales.

The partnership announcement comes after Stripe published a study revealing that businesses using Stripe’s newest checkout optimizations saw 10.5% more revenue.

“Anyone who’s made a booking on Airbnb knows how great the experience is. For guests who want to pay using their bank account, we’re thrilled to partner with Airbnb to offer bank payments as an option that’s just as fast and convenient as anything else,” added Mike Clayville, Chief Revenue Officer at Stripe.
