Skrill enhances brand recognition via Leeds United partnership

Payments platform Skrill has strengthened its brand recognition and exposure via an agreement with Leeds United FC of the Premier League, also enhancing fan engagement for the team.

Fans of the Whites will be able to utilise Skrill to make payments on the Yorkshire club’s official website, including merchandise and ticket purchases.

Additionally, Skrill will be able to take advantage of extensive advertising benefits, including LED banners around the Elland Road stadium, starting with this weekend’s home match against Chelsea FC of West London.

“With the eagerly anticipated return of fan presence at football stadiums and the incredible season which Leeds United is having, I can’t think of a more exciting time for Skrill to be entering into this partnership,” remarked Lorenzo Pellegrino, CEO of Skrill.

“We already know from our football partnerships that fans enjoy the benefits of Skrill and that our service is very relevant to them.

We will be making the most of this new relationship to add value to the club’s payment ecosystem and our own valued customer and partner base to make it a winning formula all round. We wish the team all the best for the big game this weekend and the remainder of the season.”

Another caveat of the agreement will see Skrill and Leeds collaborate on player interviews, social media promotions and giveaways, which will be advertised via the fintech’s twitter channel.

Andrea Radrizzani, Leeds United Chairman, also remarked: ““We are delighted that Skrill is joining us as a partner. Both Skrill and Leeds United are dynamic forces in our respective industries, challenging the status quo and going through a particularly exciting time in our journey.

“Both of our brands have a strong and loyal fan base in the UK and internationally, and we look forward to rewarding our fans through this partnership.”

Skrill, which recently enhanced its status in esports via an agreement with betting platform Luckbox, also maintains a partnership with Italian Serie A giants AC Milan.
