Payment processor PayRetailers has appointed Patrick Lemay as its new Head of Corporate Development to support expansion beyond Latin America (LATAM) and Africa.
PayRetailers hopes that Lemay can leverage his 16-plus years of experience to support its next phase of growth.
With a background spanning fintech, financial services and payments, Lemay has led high-profile projects across private and public sectors, building a global M&A team and completing over 25 major transactions worth over $3bn, including acquisitions, divestitures, and integrations.
Juan Pablo Jutgla, CEO of PayRetailers, expressed enthusiasm for Lemay’s arrival, noting that his background and expertise will be invaluable as the company expands its operations beyond Latin America and Africa.
“Patrick’s industry insights will be invaluable as we navigate our next chapter of growth. As we focus on geographic expansion and broaden our product and service offerings, we will also actively pursue inorganic growth opportunities,” Jutgla remarked.
“Our strategy includes not only expanding into new regions but also increasing our payment options and deepening our relationships with industries we already serve.”
Patrick brings extensive success in the region. His accomplishments include leading significant acquisitions in the payments sector, steering a $4.8bn go-private deal with CVC and Blackstone and guiding a prominent SPAC merger that led to the company’s public listing on the NYSE.
Commenting on his new role, he said: “PayRetailers is an organisation that lives and breathes the dynamic, entrepreneurial and innovative spirit that’s crucial to future success in our sector. I am excited to join the organisation at this stage of its story.
“There is a clear opportunity of replicating its success in LATAM in other regions of the world. As we expand into new markets, we will be looking to capitalise on our existing investments while actively seeking strategic acquisitions that will propel PayRetailers into a leading online global payments company.”
PayRetailers recently strengthened its efforts in Africa, announcing further expansion into the continent this September. The company aims to offer a seamless payment experience, supporting regional growth and providing access to key local payment methods like MPESA, Airtel and MTN.
