Revolut has announced a global partnership with Visa to offer Instant Card Transfers to its Business clients.

Enabled by Visa Direct, this deal allows Revolut Business customers in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA) to use Instant Card Transfers for global payments.

Previously, international business transfers often involved multiple requirements, including high fees, delays of several days and specific details like IBAN and BIC. The new system eliminates these complexities, enabling payments to be completed and received in the recipient’s account within 30 minutes or less.

The solution, supporting over 50 currencies, is now accessible in more than 78 countries. It offers a cost-effective and streamlined method for businesses, ranging from startups paying contractors to travel firms compensating customers for delays.

James Gibson, General Manager at Revolut Business, said: “We’re excited to launch Instant Card Transfers in the UK and EEA, providing businesses with a simple, instant, and secure way to pay employees, contractors, and customers globally by supporting major card schemes.”

Visa and Revolut previously teamed up in 2023 to introduce Visa Direct-powered card transfers for peer-to-peer payments. Most recently, the pair collaborated to launch Visa virtual cards tailored for the B2B travel sector in 2024.

Mark Jamison, SVP of Global Clients at Visa, commented: “We’re delighted that Visa Direct’s global reach, security, and reliability will enable Revolut’s business customers to move money worldwide with speed and confidence.  This step deepens our collaboration with Revolut to continue their impressive track record of growth and product differentiation.”

In Europe, instant payments have been a major topic this month. The Swiss National Bank (SNB) introduced a new system allowing Swiss consumers to transfer funds in seconds, stating that by the end of 2026, all retail payment institutions will be accessible through this instant payment network.
