International payments platform Thunes has hired Sigrid Hulsebosch as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO), following a busy first half of the year for the company.
Hulsebosch is tasked with leading Thunes financial strategies and leading its global finance function. These duties will encompass financial planning, overseeing the firm’s treasury, tax and reporting, and investor relations, and reporting directly to CEO Floris de Kort.
Thunes’ move to enhance oversight of its finances comes shortly after the firm sought a similar strengthening of its expertise in the legal field, appointing Ruwan De Soyza as General Counsel.
THe firm has signed several deals with other prominent companies in the payments sector this year. Notable partnerships include deals with the likes of Pomelo and Handprint, whilst further developments have occurred in the company’s long-running deal with Visa.
Hulsebosch commented: “Thunes is in a strong position as a leader in cross-border payments in a rapidly growing market, with increasing demand worldwide and new use cases for real-time and transparent payments.
“I’m looking forward to working with Floris to steer the company’s financial operations and seize the immense growth opportunity ahead.”
Thunes’ new CFO has been working in finance for over two decades, with specialisations in controlling, management and financial accounting. She most recently served as CFO of Malvern Panalytical, a material and life science analytics firm.
Her most relevant experience to the role comes from her tenure as CFO at Worldpay, the American payments processor. She held this position between May 2015 and June 2020, leading its successful initial public offering (IPO).
On Hulsebosch’s appointment, Thunes CEO de Kort said: “Sigrid is driven by a commitment to financial integrity and operational excellence, with a forward-thinking approach.
“Her deep experience in the payments industry and banking will be instrumental as we continue to grow and scale Thunes.”
