Fiserv, a payments and financial technology provider, has named Takis Georgakopoulos as Senior Advisor, Executive Vice President and Management Committee member.

Starting from 3 September, Georgakopoulos will help to drive positive client outcomes and deliver best-in-class technology across the enterprise, working closely with Fiserv’s executive team.

Fiserv’s mission is to move money and information in a way that moves the world. Specialising in payments and financial technology, the company helps clients achieve results by prioritising innovation in account processing and digital banking solutions.

Last October, Fiserv worked towards its mission by offering capabilities like merchant acceptance, banking and card issuing through a set of APIs. This allowed financial institutions and partners to improve the way that they serve clients.

Georgakopoulos, hoping to also help towards Fiserv’s goal, is a seasoned business leader with expertise in payment solutions and merchant services, joining the company from JP Morgan, where he held various leadership roles since 2007.

He most recently served on JP Morgan’s Operating Committee as Head of JP Morgan Payments, providing treasury and merchant services to various clients.

Prior roles included Head of Strategy and Chief of Staff for the Corporate & Investment Bank, Chief Financial Officer and global Head of MNC Coverage at the Global Corporate Bank, as well as Head of Corporate Strategy.

Before joining JP Morgan in 2007, Georgakopoulos was a partner at McKinsey & Company in New York, where he advised major financial institutions in the US and Europe.

He holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, an MA in Mathematics of Finance from Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in Mathematical Economics from the National Technical University of Athens.

Georgakopoulos also serves on the boards of Columbia University’s Neuroscience Institute and Business School.

Frank Bisignano, Chairman, President and CEO of Fiserv, said: “We are pleased to welcome Takis to the Fiserv team. Takis’s extensive payments and leadership experience and operational expertise will be an outstanding addition to our strong team, as we continue to focus on creating value for our clients while investing in our products, services and people.”
