Former Starling Chief Banking Officer Helen Bierton joins Lloyds

Helen Bierton has taken on the role of Director of ‘Everyday Banking’ at Lloyds Banking Group after departing from Starling Bank

Starling Bank hired Helen Bierton in 2018 as Head of Banking for both Retail and SME business lines. Prior to joining Starling, Bierton worked in the industry for 24 years, including tenures at Santander, Alliance & Leicester and NatWest. 

Bierton announced her new role on LinkedIn, posting: “I am delighted to have joined Lloyds Banking Group as Everyday Banking Director. I am really looking forward to working with my new colleagues across the group, and to working together to continue Helping Britain Prosper.”

Before working in the banking industry, Bierton was an Olympic athlete, in which she competed for Great Britain in Archery at the Athens Olympic Games in 2004. The former Olympian led various projects at Starling Bank such as, Starling Kite, a debit card for children.

Joining in 2019, Bierton also worked on various COVID-19 related projects. Including the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme (CBLIS) and Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS). 

These Coronavirus projects helped Bierton become recognised as one of the top 50 customer experience professionals in the country in Marketing Week’s CX50 list twice (in 2019 & 2020). 

Founder of Starling, Anne Boden left last year and the bank is currently under the interim leadership of CEO John Mountain, as the search for a permanent CEO is still ongoing. 

At Lloyds, Bierton will run the incumbent’s Everyday Banking service, covering retail saving and current accounts across all channels.
