LINE is elevating biometric technology with the introduction of passwordless authentication for its app on iPad, allowing users to log in using the biometric information stored on their smartphones.

The new feature utilises FIDO standards and eliminates the need for passwords, reducing the risk of unauthorised logins and allowing users to use LINE more securely and conveniently.

In order to use biometric authentication for the LINE app on iPad, biometric information must first be registered on a smartphone and linked with a LINE account.

Beginning this year, users will be able to sign in to the desktop version of LINE with passwordless authentication using the biometric information stored on their smartphones. Biometric authentication can be used to migrate LINE accounts and sign into LINE family services beginning next year, allowing for a more secure and convenient experience.

The tech builds on the continued growth of biometric authentication as firms seek to boost the frictionless journey for customers.
