UK Finance confirms David Postings as new Chief Executive

UK Finance has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of David Postings as its new Chief Executive.

The firm revealed that the decision came following the unanimous support of the Board of UK Finance, which followed a rigorous recruitment process, led by Sapphire Partners and UK Finance’s nominations committee.

Commenting on the appointment, the newly appointed Postings stated: “I am pleased to be taking on this role at UK Finance at such an important time for the industry. The sector’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic has shown the vital role that finance must play in supporting consumers and businesses through this difficult economic situation.

“I am looking forward to working with members and colleagues to continue UK Finance’s commitment to building an even more customer-focused and innovative sector for the benefit of the UK economy as a whole.”

He will be joining UK Finance on 1st January, 2021. Bob Wigley will continue as the Executive Chair of UK Finance until David takes up his role as CEO.

The UK Finance Executive Chair added: “I am delighted to announce David Postings appointment as UK Finance’s new Chief Executive. He will bring wide and deep experience of our sector and crucially at this time, a real understanding of the vital role our members play in supporting SMEs and consumers across the UK.

David was appointed as the UK Chief Executive for Bibby Financial Services in April 2012 and served as Global Chief Executive from September 2015 until he stepped down last month.

He has over 40 years’ experience in financial services and has held senior roles at Barclays where he led Barclays Sales Financing in the late 1990s and went on to run the Barclays Group IT and Operations business before joining Lloyds TSB as Managing Director of the Commercial Bank in 2004.
