SBC Digital Summit Latinoamérica’s Land-Based 2.0 track to focus on casinos, lotteries & payments

Casinos, lotteries, retail bookmakers and payments will take centre stage on day two of SBC Digital Summit Latinoamérica, as the industry comes together to share ideas for the future of the region’s land-based sector.

The virtual conference and exhibition on 16-17 June 2020 features a roster of 60 senior executive speakers delivering insights across four content tracks. While the first three focus largely on igaming, the second day of the event includes the Land-Based 2.0 track sponsored by Gaming Innovation Group

It will begin with Luckia’s President José González Fuentes sharing his experience of operating in Chile, Peru and Colombia, and his long-term vision for the region in the What’s Next For LatAm’s Land-Based Industry keynote.

That presentation is to be followed by the first-panel session, Omni-Channel Revolution: Modernising Latin America’s Land-Based Sector, which will address how established casinos and retail bookmakers can adapt to cope with the added competition of regulated igaming.

How to collaborate effectively with online operators, and strategies for attracting a new generation of players are among the issues set to go under the microscope. The panelists sharing ideas include Lourdes Britto (General Manager, Corporación PJ), Eliseo Gracia Martínez (COO, Enjoy) and Lenin Castillo (Online COO, Logrand Entertainment), with Evert Montero Cárdenas, President of the Colombian trade association Fecoljuegos, in the moderator’s chair.

Attendees will have the opportunity to join in the discussion at a series of Themed Networking Sessions running throughout the Summit, which are designed to make it easy for people with shared business interests to connect. The future of the land-based sector will be one of subjects debated during the sessions dedicated to the markets in Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.

Land-Based 2.0’s second panel is Digitising LatAm Lottery, which will examine how lotteries can remain relevant to players as regulated sports betting and online casinos become more prevalent in the region. Drawing heavily on the experience of the Colombian market, the speakers will evaluate the steps lotteries need to take to modernise their product offering in order to prosper in the changing market.

Luis Gama (Former President, Cibelae) will moderate the panel, which features Esmeralda Britton (President, Costa Rica’s Junta de Protección Social), Javier Milián (President, El Salvador’s Lotería Nacional de Beneficencia) and David Mora Gómez (Manager, Lotería de Medellín).

Delegates with an interest in the lottery sector can also take part in the Lottery in LatAm virtual networking session on day one of SBC Digital Summit Latinoamérica. It will provide an opportunity for operators and suppliers to connect and discuss the future of lotteries in the region.

The final panel of the Land-Based 2.0 track is Cashless Future? Solving LatAm’s Payments Problem, which will address one of the major challenges the industry faces. Elizabeth Maya Cano (President, Cornazar), Mikael Lijtenstein (CEO, AstroPay) and Santiago Asensi (Director, Asensi Abogados) will assess the path to improving payments provision in the region and what operators need to do to prepare for increased online player numbers. Alfredo Lazcano, Chair of Lazcano Sámano, will take on the moderator’s duties.

Prior to the panel is the Payments in LatAm virtual networking session, which will bring together operators and suppliers to discuss how they can collaborate on the development of safe and secure payments solutions for the region.

Rasmus Sojmark, Founder & CEO of event organiser SBC, said: “The land-based sector remains by far the largest part of the betting and gaming industry in Latin America, so it was important for us to provide in-depth evaluations of some of the challenges it is facing.

“With lots of high-level speakers and a programme of focused networking events, the Summit is sure to produce a great sharing of ideas about the future of lotteries, casinos and retail bookmakers, and provide an ideal forum for delegates to make useful business contacts in the land-based sector.”

SBC Digital Summit Latinoamérica will use an advanced technological platform to replicate the key benefits of a physical trade show and make them accessible to delegates from their homes and offices.

In addition to the four-track conference and extensive networking opportunities, the 2,000 attendees can meet leading suppliers and see their latest innovations at the 20-booth interactive exhibition and during the exhibitor product presentation programme. The set-up is designed to help the industry to continue doing business during this period when travel and face-to-face meetings are almost impossible to arrange.
