Payment orchestration company Paytently has appointed Paul Marcantonio as its General Manager (GM), tasked with applying his 20-years of fintech experience to the company’s ambitions.

Marcantonio joins Paytently at a time of significant development in the fintech space, including rapid advancements in technology which are changing the way companies conduct operations and produce solutions.

The new hire’s most recent role was at Ecommpay, where he worked for just under eight years. He joined the online payments firm back in 2017 as Head of UK and Western Europe before being promoted to the role of Executive Director for this region in 2020.

Commenting on his appointment to Paytently, Marcantionio remarked: “I couldn’t be more excited to join the Paytently team. In considering my next career move, it was essential for me to identify a company that not only had a strong vision and a compelling offering but also shared the same culture and values that I believe in.

“Paytently embodies a culture that resonates through every employee, harnessing the importance of providing each client with a genuine, transparent, and personal experience, while also delivering consistent reliability.

“Underpinned with impressive technology, bold ambitions, and a talented, driven team, this is an incredibly exciting time to be part of Paytently’s growth and evolution.”

Paytentoy cited Marcantonio’s ‘pivotal role’ in building up Ecommpay’s partner network in the e-commerce space and expanding awareness of its acquiring services and payment processing solutions.

The company has also highlighted his tenures at Deutsche Telekom as Head of Sales UK and Executive Director of ClickandBuy, as well at gaming firm THQ and as the UK and Ireland Head of Sales at Ubisoft, another gaming firm, as its Trade Sector Sales Manager.

As noted above, Marcantionio joins the company at a time of growth and development in the fintech sector. As one example, Paytently is looking to further integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning into its operations, as its Co-Founder and CRO, Nick Tucker, explained to Payment Expert back in August.

“We are delighted to welcome Paul to our leadership team in what marks the first senior hire under the founders at Paytently,” said Samuel Barrett, the company’s CEO.

“As we embark on a pivotal phase, making advances towards becoming a regulated financial institution and building out our general e-commerce, financial services and travel propositions, Paul’s wealth of experience will be invaluable.

“His arrival couldn’t be more timely, and I look forward to working closely with him as we lead the company through these important initiatives and the next stage of growth.”
