Sergi Herrero is committed to extending Mangopay’s “upward trajectory” after he has been confirmed as the payment infrastructure platform’s new CEO.

Herrero succeeds Romain Mazeris who stepped down from the role. The outgoing CEO was part of Mangopay’s founding team and held the position for six years. He will remain a part of the company’s board and to work closely with other board members.

Xavier Garambois, Chairman of the Mangopay Board, stated: “On behalf of the board, I want to thank Romain for his leadership over the past six years.

“The strong foundations that Romain and his team have put in place have set Mangopay up for long-term growth. We are extremely grateful for his unwavering commitment and I want to deeply thank him for his service as CEO.”

Herrero will look to continue the trajectory built by Mazeris and bring his extensive knowledge and expertise from the payments and technology sectors.

He previously held a role as Global Direct for Payments and Commerce Partnerships at technology giant Meta, launching new payment products and enhancing the company’s commerce capabilities.

Herrero has also held Senior Executive Roles at Square and BNP Paribas and served as Co-CEO of global telecommunications company VEON

Commenting on his appointment, Herrero said: “Mangopay provides transformational payment solutions for platforms internationally. Our offering for this expanding area of the ecommerce industry is both innovative and highly differentiated.

“I am extremely excited by the significant growth opportunities ahead for Mangopay, and to join this talented team at such a pivotal point in the company’s journey.”

Mangopay’s new CEO will look to lend his commerce and merchant payment experience by adding on to the work already done this year by the company.

The payment company has lent its infrastructure to a myriad of companies in a range of different industries, working with the likes of Ticombo, Eleanor and ManoMano

Herrero is the latest addition to the company’s hierarchy this year too, having hired Mark Fleming as CCO in June, as well as Liz Oakes as a non-Executive Director last January.

Garambois added on Herrero’s appointment: “Sergi brings a wealth of experience and vision that aligns perfectly with our ambitions for Mangopay. Mangopay is on an exciting growth trajectory and we are confident that Sergi is the right leader to take the business to its next stage of development.”
