Mangopay appoints Liz Oakes as Non-Executive Director to lead strategy development

Payment infrastructure provider Mangopay has announced the appointment of Liz Oakes to its Board as a Non-Executive Director. 

Oakes will be tasked with providing strategic advice to help Mangopay ‘design and articulate the next steps’ of its strategic development, building on from the firm’s acquisition by Advent International in 2022. 

Most recently, Oakes was based at Mastercard where she held executive roles in the company’s payments businesses and other global positions leading strategy, market and product development. 

Prior to Mastercard, Oakes was a payments consultant at McKinsey and KPMG, where she provided strategic advice and advisory services to central banks, financial institutions and clients from the payments industry with a specific focus on cross-border payments.

Commenting on Oakes’s appointment, Romain Mazeries, CEO of Mangopay, said: “Liz joins us at such an exciting time in our journey and we are delighted that she will be a part of our Board, to help us design and articulate the next steps of our strategic development at Mangopay. Liz’s world-class experience will be a great asset to us as we elevate the company to its next level of growth.” 

Since the acquisition, Mangopay has focused on growing across Europe by signing partnerships with the likes of  Bigcrafters, which helped the small business launch in Spain. 

This pan-European objective also saw its  new deal with OVO which sees the company power a chalet rental service located in the Alps.
