Payment platform TerraPay has appointed Hassan Chatila as Vice President of Global Head of Network and has agreed a deal with bank challenger Multipass.

In his new position, Chatila will spearhead the expansion and refinement of TerraPay’s global payout network. Working closely with both internal teams and external partners, he’ll focus on improving the network’s capabilities.

Ambar Sur, TerraPay Founder and CEO, said: “It gives me great pleasure to welcome Hassan on board. As an industry expert, he comes with a highly reputable cross-border payment expertise and deep leadership experience.

“On TerraPay’s journey of growth, Hassan’s appointment is a critical step in furthering our network expansion goals. I look forward to working together and further deepening TerraPay’s position as a global money movement leader.”

Drawing from over two decades of expertise in cross-border payments, Chatila will bring a wealth of leadership experience to TerraPay.

Prior to joining the company, he served as the Global Head of Western Union‘s Account Payout Network, where he played a crucial role in enhancing and scaling the network to support global transactions.

In addition, Chatila’s career includes prominent leadership positions at Earthport and Temenos, where he led transformative payment initiatives and drove substantial growth.

Commenting on his new role, Chatila said: “I am thrilled to join TerraPay at this pivotal time. Over the years, TerraPay has built an expansive global money movement network driven by the mission to build a borderless world of payments.

I look forward to leveraging my experience to further develop our network capabilities, create new opportunities across markets and help TerraPay achieve its ambitious goals.”

Since its establishment in 2014, the company has partnered with a number of firms across the globe, such as Colombian remittance firm Bancolombia last year.

Most recently, Terrapay has announced a partnership with Multipass, a bank challenger in the financial technology sector. The agreement aims to redefine cross-border payment solutions for corporate customers.

Through this collaboration, Multipass will gain access to TerraPay’s extensive global payments network and as a result, Multipass will be able to offer its clients streamlined cross-border payment solutions.

Sudhesh Giriyan, President of Cross-Border Payments at TerraPay, stated: “TerraPay is thrilled to collaborate with Multipass to revolutionise cross-border payments for their corporate customers. This partnership underscores our dedication to providing innovative solutions that drive efficiency, reliability, and cost optimisation.”
