Dutch financial services provider Rabobank has partnered with dejamobile to enable contactless payment acceptance on merchants’ mobile phones.

Under the agreement, Rabobank will utilise dejamobile’s white label SoftPOS solution, which will be integrated with Ready To Tap, enabling merchants the ability to accept contactless payments on their smartphones via Rabobank’s SmartPin app.

The addition of contactless payments into the SmartPin app represents the latest enhancement to Rabobank’s suite of services for SMEs and merchants, aiming to meet the growing demand for a flexible and mobile payment acceptance solution.

Nico Strauss, Rabobank’s Tribe Lead B2B Services, said: “With this introduction, we are making Rabo SmartPin even more accessible for entrepreneurs. All they need to accept a payment is a smartphone and the Rabo SmartPin app. This not only makes business easier but also helps customers keep track of transactions and revenue.”

The Tap to Pay feature looks to improve on Rabobank’s existing mPOS product, eliminating the necessity for a separate mobile PIN device.

Additionally, merchants can use the app as a cash register solution, allowing retailers to create a product catalogue within the app, monitor their inventory, connect the app to multiple users and record cash transactions.

“We are delighted to be working with Rabobank’s team in the Netherlands to deploy Tap to Pay solution that provides merchants with a flexible, easy-to- use and cost-effective way to accept contactless payments using just their smartphone,” Houssem Assadi, CEO at dejamobile, remarked.

“Tap to Pay on iPhone as well on Android technology allows Rabobank to offer the service to all their merchants through Rabo SmartPin app.”

Tap To Pay has become increasingly popular, recently TD Bank integrated Apple’s Tap to Pay payment service for its customer base across the US. Whereas in the Netherlands, SumUp launched its contactless payments service last year, which it labelled as an ‘important step in democratising digital payments’.

Christa Braker, Product Manager at Rabobank, commented: “It has been a pleasure working with dejamobile. As one of the largest banks in The Netherlands, we hold high standards for offering payment services. dejamobile met every expectation we had.”
