Cash management solutions provider PayComplete has promoted Simon James as its new CEO, moving the c-level executive up from his former role as Co-President.

The firm’s new CEO first joined the company in 2018 as Managing Director for UK and Ireland, having previously worked in payments and finance for 25 years with roles at Elavon, FIS, Certegy, and Mosaic.

A PayComplete press statement explained that James’ primary remit as CEO will be to continue the Utrecht-based firm’s brand centralisation process to improve cross-business collaboration and expand its retail and cash-in-transit offerings.

James remarked: “This is an exciting time for PayComplete as we continue to go from strength to strength with more customers and organisations experiencing our incredible team’s relentless drive for innovation and customer service.

“I’m excited to work closely with all our teams over the coming months, helping to support our continued EMEA operations and work on the international growth, particularly in the Americas, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

“In my new role as CEO, I look forward to continuing to work side-by-side with our incredible customers, helping them grow by optimising their cash management operations.”

PayComplete is active in international cash management across 18 countries, focusing primarily on hardware and cloud-based platforms and targeting retailers, banks, cash-in-transit (CIT) firms and international mints as clients.

The company is operating at a time when cash usage in many countries, particularly Western Europe, is dropping due to increased digitalisation of payments. However, although usage is at lower levels it remains steady.

For example, in the UK the Bank of England has pledged to continue offering cash despite looking at plans to launch a CBDC, and banks such as Nationwide have actually reported increased cash withdrawals.

James continued: “Cash is here to stay. In the UK, for instance, cash remains the Second  most used form of payment and is crucial to the operations of many businesses.

“PayComplete is uniquely positioned to support organisations in managing their cash  more efficiently while creating opportunities to improve customer experience and deliver new services and revenue streams.

“Our proprietary hardware systems, supported by our first-class services and one-of-a-kind agnostic software platform, ensure we have  the products to help the retail, hospitality, mass transit, banking and financial services, and CIT sectors enhance their cash management.”
