TrueLayer to scale Ireland operations with new CEO

Pay by Bank provider TrueLayer has appointed Basil Bailey as CEO of its Ireland division, as well as a General Manager of its European-wide business. 

In his role as TrueLayer Ireland CEO, Bailey will oversee commercial and regulatory guidance over its operations in the country. 

As one of the leading figures at TrueLayer Europe, he will also lend a hand in the operations of its handlings of its European company, which holds a European Payments Institution licence received from the Central Bank of Ireland 

Speaking on his two new roles at TrueLayer, Bailey said: “I’m very excited to join TrueLayer at such a pivotal point in its journey. With more and more major merchants starting to offer TrueLayer’s Pay by Bank option to their customers, TrueLayer is truly changing how the world pays. 

“I look forward to bringing my payment experience to the table and being a part of the TrueLayer team for this revolutionary journey.”

Bailey has a wealth of experience within the global payments sector. He has held roles at JP Morgan as Managing Director of its acquiring business in the EMEA region, as well as CEO and Director. 

He has also held senior roles at Fiserv as well as PayPal, where he was Global Director of Financial Services, and at Borderfree as Director of Global Consumer and Commercial Payments. 

Prior to these roles, Bailey was the Chief Commercial Officer of Orbiscom, which was subsequently acquired by Mastercard where he then worked for many years holding a number of key senior positions, most recently as VP of Global Strategic Alliances. 

The new TrueLayer Ireland CEO joins the company during a time of growth for the company. TrueLayer recently surpassed 10 million users for its consumer network representing a growing demand for Pay by Bank solutions. 

Being one of Europe’s largest Pay by Bank providers, TrueLayer has processed more than $64bn in payments and increased its revenue by more than 50% last year to support clients such as Revolut and RyanAir
