Tyl by NatWest and online food delivery service easyFood are embarking on a new partnership to disrupt the industry by offering lower service fees throughout the UK.
The partnership intends to offer no hardware costs and faster payments to restaurants and takeaway owners on the easyFood platform by integrating Tyl’s single terminal for a more streamlined payment process.
Tyl and easyFood will roll out in Birmingham and the West Midlands initially to more than 600 restaurants and takeaway businesses. 3,000 ‘Discovery Boxes’ will also be distributed to these companies to highlight the benefits of Tyl’s payment processing.
Once a restaurant has downloaded the easyFood app to their Tyl by NatWest terminal, they can receive orders from customers and also use the Tyl by NatWest terminal to process orders and take payments by phone and face-to-face.
Benefits for restaurant and takeaway business owners include increased efficiency for orders from consumers which are processed more swiftly and directly to merchants.
Cost reduction for businesses was also cited to be able to save on equipment costs by using the existing and new technology.
James Holian, Head of Business Banking at NatWest, commented: “The partnership between easyFood and Tyl by NatWest will integrate an advanced online food ordering system directly into the existing payment infrastructure used by a wide range of merchants, such as restaurants, takeaways, grocery stores, hotels, and bars.
“This integration will simplify operations, enhance efficiency, and support sustainability efforts by eliminating the need for additional devices and their associated energy consumption.”
The partnership is one of the first to utilise card payment terminals for online food ordering, a technology developed and evolved by easyFood since its first device in 2006.
The integration seeks to set easyFood and Tyl by NatWest apart from market standards, showcasing the use of existing technology to deliver enhanced value and convenience to merchants.
Sir Stelios Haji-Ioannou, Founder of easyGroup, added: “The takeaway meal business has never been more competitive. While that has been great for the customer, for the restaurateur however, it has meant capture by greedy ordering platforms with sky-high commission charges.
“Partnering with NatWest’s payment platforms means easyFood can offer our restaurant partners the UK’s most efficient payment system alongside its ground-breaking ordering platform with some of the most competitive rates available.”
