Crypto exchange Knaken has debuted its product ‘Settle’ in the world of sports as part of a season ticket renewal deal with Dutch football club Feyenoord.

Knaken’s platform ‘Settle’, which also allows users to make transactions with euros, has enabled fans of the Dutch club to renew season tickets for the 2024/25 season using crypto, making it the first club to do so in the country.

Erik Hollander, CCO at Knaken, said: “The Settle integration at Feyenoord symbolises our mission to lead in the fintech sector. It is an example of how we can enrich the sports world with innovative solutions and strengthen the relationship between the club and its supporters.”

Although Settle is currently used specifically for season ticket renewals at Feyenoord, the pair have shared plans to further integrate this technology into other aspects of the online customer experience.

Knaken has described the collaboration as the start of a “era where the loyalty of supporters merges with the benefits of modern payment options”, which aligns with other deals between the two industries as of late.
Ruud van der Knaap, Commercial Director of Feyenoord, commented: “This initiative fits well within Feyenoord’s vision of innovation and customer focus, where ease for supporters is central. Feyenoord is proud to take this step together with Knaken and thus further shape the future of financial transactions in sports.”
