GoCardless has partnered with broadband provider Cuckoo, extending and enhancing a pre-existing relationship in place since 2020.

The company will integrate GoCardless’ direct debit capabilities for collecting monthly bills from its customers. The firm states that this is in line with its goals of leveraging the latest payments technology and ensuring strong customer relations.

The three-year deal also marks an expansion of GoCardless’ standing in telecommunications, with the firm also providing its bank payments services to bigblu and Aicall

Tommy Toner, Chief Product Experience Officer at Cuckoo said: “We’re really pleased to be renewing our partnership with GoCardless – it’s a brand that’s grown with us over the last three years, and a relationship we’re keen to continue into the future.

“Cuckoo’s goal is to deliver fast, fair and feel good broadband, and part of that is unmatched customer service at every stage of the journey. Payments are no exception.

“We’re on a mission to transform the broadband industry and revolutionise the sector’s reputation for customer service. By partnering with innovators like GoCardless, we’re able to deliver an industry leading customer experience.”

GoCardless’ multi-year collaboration with Cuckoo has seen the latter integrate customers into the Kraken customer service platform. Kraken aims to build on this by adding more GoCardless features onto the platform, including its Open Banking feature, Instant Bank Pay.

Open Banking has become an area of focus for GoCardless, similar to many other payments stakeholders. Back in March, the company became one of several payments firms to join the UK Crown Commercial Services’ (CCS) Open Banking Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS).

The deal with Cuckoo continues what has been an active year for GoCardless. The firm has signed a plethora of new partners, such as Intuit QuickBooks and Sage, and in March it secured a major new asset in Nuapay.

Pat Phelan, Managing Director of UK and Ireland and Chief Customer Officer at GoCardless, added: “We’re proud to continue our long-term relationship with Cuckoo, from supporting them in the early days to helping them deliver on a number of strategic initiatives.

“Our bank payments platform will help Cuckoo scale with ease as they execute their growth plans while giving their customers an easy ‘set it and forget it’ payment experience.

“And, with the upcoming Instant Bank Pay integration, Cuckoo will be able to offer an even more seamless payment flow as they deliver fast, fair, feel-good broadband up and down the country.”
