Viva.com has partnered with Satispay in a strategic agreement to expand the alternative payment options for European businesses.

Under the agreement, merchants in Italy, France and Luxembourg that use Viva.com’s Tap on Any Device technology for in-store purchases and Smart Checkout for online transactions will be able to accept payments using Satispay at checkout.

The integration will provide businesses with access to a broader customer base as well as faster and more secure transactions, allowing them to benefit from an enhanced customer experience, resulting in fewer missed sales.

Harry Xenophontos, Chief Partnerships Officer at Viva.com, said: “Connecting with local financial systems and enabling connectivity to dominant local card schemes and alternative payment methods, is an essential part of Viva.com’s expansion in the 24 European markets of operation.

“Our partnership with Satispay will offer our merchants and their consumers versatility, even greater flexibility and convenience at the checkout. Satispay’s commitment to simplicity and security aligns perfectly with our mission to provide cutting-edge omnichannel payment solutions to all European businesses.”

Satispay is a mobile payment circuit, which is used by 4.4 million users and 320,000 merchants in the aforementioned European countries. The app allows users to pay using a QR code, independent from credit and debit cards.

Through this collaboration, thousands of new merchants in these countries will be able to accept payments with Satispay, which is made possible though Viva.com’s extensive European footprint as it supports over 985 devices, e-commerce solutions and marketplace payment capabilities.

France, one of the countries this new solution will be available in, has benefited a lot from Viva.com in the past. The company brought iPhone Tap to Pay to France in November last year as part of a partnership with Worldline and recently appointed a new General Manager for the country in Jean-Brice Picardi.

Stefano Schiavio, Partnerships and Corporate BD Director at Satispay, commented: “Joining forces with Viva.com marks a significant milestone in our strategic approach to broadening our merchant network, whilst ensuring that Satispay users continue to enjoy the effortless and secure payment experience they have come to expect, now across a growing number of physical and online shops.”
