Ant International’s reach and remit in the European payments sector was expanded this week via the acquisition of Dutch fintech, MultiSafepay.

Antom, Ant’s payment and digitisation services provider asset, conducted the acquisition and will oversee MulitSafepay as part of its business. The firm intends to offer payment solutions and digitalisation services to European businesses, particularly across Europe.

The duo aim to work towards this goal by integrating Antom’s technology and digital capabilities into MulitSafepay’s business, with the intention of expanding the latter’s product offerings and SME merchant coverage.

Olaf Geurs, CEO of MultiSafepay, said: “The past 25 years have been an incredible journey. Together with our amazing team, we’ve bootstrapped MultiSafepay into a leading full-service PSP in Europe, overcoming countless obstacles along the way.

“The entrepreneurial spirit never sleeps, which is why we’re partnering with Antom to unlock even greater growth potential for MultiSafepay’s products and services, attracting even more businesses to our ecosystem.”

MultiSafepay’s services focus around omnichannel payments, covering 40 different payment methods including cards, e-wallets, BNPL transactions, internet banking, and more.

The acquisition continues an active year for Ant International. 2024 has so far seen the firm expand its partnership with Yappily and secure a greater foothold in Saudi Arabia via a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

Gary Liu, General Manager of Antom Global said: “We are thrilled to join hands with MultiSafepay, a trusted industry innovator and our long-term partner. SMEs are the pillar of regional and global prosperity. With digital innovations, we look forward to building together more secure, flexible and efficient payment solutions with cross-sector partners, for small businesses to thrive in a truly inclusive and sustainable global commerce ecosystem.”
