Global payments platform Adyen has elevated its support for good causes, with the announcement of its partnership with the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (WHO).
The fund is powered by the United Nations Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation and quickly gets vital funding to where it’s needed most, supporting the WHO’s efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kate Dodson, the United Nations Foundation’s VP for Global Health commented: “We are all affected by the growing COVID-19 outbreak. It’s an unprecedented health challenge and requires people from all sectors to play a role in a collective solution.
“Donations support the WHO and partners’ work to track and understand the spread of the virus, to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information, and to accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests and treatments.”
The collaboration allows Adyen merchants to easily collect donations for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund by accepting charitable donations from their shoppers through Adyen Giving.
Colin Neil, SVP Business Development of Adyen UK – who leads Northern business – added: “Adyen Giving fits into our broader social responsibility goals, in which we are working to use our technology to do good and look for solutions with a potential multiplier effect. In line with this strategy, we believe that partnering with the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund potentially unlocks more funds than a one-off donation would.
“Across the board, we’re seeing positive responses to this global crisis – the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund is a brilliant example. We’ve also been really impressed with how agile many local businesses have been in their response to the changing market conditions, and hope that now we’ll see our retailers across the North eager to help drive the mission of the fund.”
