The Payment Expert Encore provides an opportunity for the payments industry to take the stage and share with us the soundtrack that took them to where they are today.

In the latest edition, we spoke to Michael Sindicich, General Manager at TripActions Liquid, who revealed the ‘night of his life’ at Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark Tour in 2008.

What was your first ever gig, and what was it like?

The Glow in the Dark Tour 2008 at the Staples Center. Kanye West featuring Rihanna, Lupe Fiasco, N.E.R.D, Santigold and Nas. I was 16 and there were no parents. It was the night of my life.

Best performance you have ever seen live, and why was it so good?

Odesza, Outside Lands 2018. My fiancé and I won last-minute tickets just for Friday and their set was incredible. It felt special because nothing was planned, I hadn’t listened to much Odesza beforehand and also feel like that style of music doesn’t always translate well in an outdoor venue.

But their set was absolutely magical with huge drums, dancers, lights, smoke, and the entire experience just felt lucky, unplanned, and special. To this day every time I hear one of their songs I think back to that performance.

Artist who can do no wrong in your eyes and why?

Cher. Because, duh.

Most cherished album and why?

Lil Wayne – Tha Carter III. I remember sitting in my friend’s car in a Target parking lot until 2am on a school night listening to every song. To this day, it’s my go to gym album when I need a boost.

Song that gets you up in the morning? Why does it fill you with the energy you need to face the day?

Bleachers – I wanna get better. It’s fast paced, catchy, and full of hope.

The song that always makes your gym playlist? What are you usually doing in the gym when you listen to this?

Let the Beat Build by Lil Wayne. I used to run track in high school and college and it’s the perfect song to warm up to on race day. It starts slow and the beat literally builds.

The artist or song that takes your mind off work? Why have you chosen this artist and genre?

Kashmir by Led Zeppelin. It’s impossible to send emails or respond to Slack when you’re aggressively banging the air drums.

Musician you’d love to go on a night out with? Where would you take them?

Cher. Cammareri Bros. Bakery.
